Stephen Reid will panic following a desperate new plan in Coronation Street.

The serial killer has been scrambling since his most recent murder attempt failed, when he couldn't successfully kill off soon-to-be wife Elaine Jones in a plot to steal her life insurance.

Stephen isn't about to give up on the money, so next week's episodes will involve him coming up with a backup plan to get rid of Elaine once and for all.

However, Stephen faces trouble on multiple fronts when factory boss Carla Connor discovers the business has been making payments to Seagull Ltd — a front business Stephen used to funnel money for Elaine's life insurance policy.

The plan goes off the rails almost immediately when Sarah Platt turns up at the factory to return her laptop at the most inopportune time.

Stephen realises that if Sarah were to run into Gabrielle at the factory, she'd know something dodgy was going on since they'd met before.

With Carla breathing down his neck about the missing funds, Stephen has to improvise a solution to explain the stolen funds without his ruse being rumbled.
