Coronation Street's Paul Foreman gets upset over new discovery

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Paul Foreman is set to get upset after making a discovery about his mum Bernie Winter on Coronation Street.

Paul has been processing the news of his recent Motor Neurone Disease (MND) diagnosis, a condition for which there is currently no cure. Paul initially kept the diagnosis to himself, before more recently deciding to tell some of his loved ones.

In new scenes set to air on the soap, Paul and his partner Billy Mayhew return home from a trip away together and have a look through the post.

Paul is relieved that all his family and friends now know about his diagnosis, though is taken aback when he learns that someone has been looking into a Personal Independence Payment (PIP) application for him.

Jane Hazlegrove, who plays Bernie, recently opened up about the real-life grief she experienced while filming Paul's storyline on the soap, telling Inside Soap: "I lost my dad recently, so I know what this kind of grief is like. It has been very emotional."

She also spoke about how Paul's disease has changed the dynamic of the on-screen family, adding: "They are struggling, but closing ranks. The Winter-Brown scrum, to use a rugby metaphor, is knuckling down.

"But sadly families like these do fall apart at times because everyone is busy asking themselves what they can do for the best, and end up forgetting about the person in the middle. We'll see some conflict between Bernie and Billy."
