Coronation Street spoilers ahead.
Ed Bailey starts to become suspicious of Paul Foreman's mysterious issues in new Corrie scenes, as he remains unaware that Paul has been diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND).
Prior to receiving his life-altering diagnosis, Ed urged Paul to take some time off work at the builder's yard, after experiencing problems with movement in his right hand. Now, Ed is ready for his employee to return.
Ed, who remains unaware of the situation, starts putting pressure on Paul to come back to work. Meanwhile, Paul, who's reluctant to share news of his diagnosis with others, is evasive, making Ed feel more suspicious.

At the moment, only Ed's daughter Dee-Dee knows that Paul has been diagnosed with MND, as he's decided not to tell his family and friends.

Previously opening up about the hard-hitting storyline, actor Peter Ash exclusively told Digital Spy: "There are scenes exploring that when Paul speaks to Dee-Dee, who's the one person he confides in. Bless her, she deals with a lot with Paul when he starts unloading!
"Paul doesn't want to tell anyone else, because he fears that they'll treat him differently after this point and he'll be pitied – he doesn't want that. It's understandable and obviously he doesn't want to worry people.

"At the moment we're still filming the scenes where Dee-Dee is the only person who knows. I think the next point will be when Billy [Mayhew] finds out, but I've not read to that point yet."
As for the massive responsibility on his shoulders, Ash went on to share: "When you're playing a character with an illness or a condition, there's so much responsibility to get it right and not to cheapen it.
"We want to represent it properly. We're acting it, but there are people watching who are living with it. It's very important to get it right, be spot on with it and portray it sensitively."
Coronation Street has been working with the MND Association on Paul's story. Further information about the condition is available on the NHS website.
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
