Coronation Street has confirmed the off-screen death of classic character Bill Webster.
The sad news was foreshadowed earlier this year when Kevin Webster temporarily left the cobbles to care for his ailing father in Germany after Bill suffered a heart attack.
In Monday's episode (April 3), several of the residents of Weatherfield found out that Bill had passed away with Kevin at his side.
Kevin's sister Debbie informed Abi that it was a "peaceful" passing, then assured Abi she would head out to help Kevin with the funeral arrangements.

"I should have stayed out there," Debbie told Abi.
Abi comforted Debbie by saying: "You didn't know [he was going to pass], and at least you got to see him!"
While viewers didn't see Kevin himself in the episode, Abi mentioned that he was holding up as well as possible given the sad development.
Peter Armitage had multiple stints in Coronation Street from the 1980s to the 2010s, having most recently left in 2011 when his character suffered a heart attack on-screen.

Sadly, the actor was never able to make another return to Weathefield because he died of a heart attack in 2018.
At the time, ITV said: "Peter was a much respected and much loved member of the Coronation Street family. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time."
The actor was a fixture of British TV for decades, with memorable roles in The Sweeney, The Second Coming and Sir David Jason's short-lived sitcom Lucky Feller.
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
