Stephen Reid has triumphed over Carla Connor in Coronation Street with his drug scheme.

The killer has been trying to gain the upperhand at the factory this week by spiking his boss Carla's tea with LSD, causing her to experience hallucinations at work.

In Friday's episode (February 17), it looked like Carla might actually be suspicious when she remembered she was supposed to have a meeting with Dick Havisham that was no longer on her calendar.

Stephen had snuck into her office the night before to delete the important meeting and shred urgent paperwork in order to make Carla doubt herself.

He continued his dirty work by handing Carla another drugged mug of tea and then tried to convince her she'd canceled the morning meeting.

Dick Havisham later called Carla demanding answers on why she'd missed their meeting, forcing her to rush off in a huff to make the appointment before Dick left.

Carla later turned up at the garage to pick up her car from Abi, but Abi became concerned when Carla demanded to know why the tyres in the corner were moving.

"I don't think you should be driving," Abi warned her.

As Abi tried to figure out whether or not Carla was reacting badly to medication, Carla grew angry and paranoid as she demanded to know whether people were spreading rumours about her.

"You can't stop me [driving]," Carla then insisted.

Nevertheless, Abi refused to hand over the keys while Carla was in that state. Unfortunately, Carla spotted the Underworld van was nearby and she got behind the wheel of that vehicle instead.

Peter was getting ready to take Paul for a ride on his motorbike when Carla came careening down the street. Before she knew it, Carla had crashed into Paul, sending him hurtling to the ground.

Paul was taken to hospital and while his arm was injured, he was furious when Stephen stopped by to tell them about Carla's condition at the time of the crash.

Billy and Paul went to see Peter and Carla to question why she was behind the wheel if she was feeling "unwell". Billy insisted that Carla was "struggling" resulting in Peter throwing them out.

After a heart-to-heart with Peter, Carla delivered the news to a gleeful Stephen that she was taking time away from work and wanted him to run the factory with Sarah.

Stephen has managed to stay one step ahead of being caught again…
