Stephen Reid has had his latest murder plan thwarted in Coronation Street.

Friday's half-hour episode saw the scheming Stephen attempting to finish off Teddy after a car crash that left Teddy clinging to life earlier this week.

Stephen immediately lied that Teddy had been drunk and stumbled into oncoming traffic, though he was horrified to get a prognosis from the doctors that Teddy was likely to make a full recovery.

Jenny excused herself for some fresh air, once again leaving Stephen all alone with the unconscious Teddy. At first, Stephen quietly apologised to Teddy for killing his son Leo, only for his true motives to emerge.

Stephen was reaching over to pull out Teddy's life support when Jenny made an unexpected return to the room, thus thwarting his attempts to kill the only person who could prove Leo never made it to Canada.

Jenny still had no idea what Stephen was up to, and since this is the closest he's come to getting caught, he immediately started making plans to leave Weatherfield.

Stephen got a call from the delivery service he worked for where they admitted the moped he'd crashed wasn't insured. He pressed them for a £10,000 payoff under the table to make the situation go away.

"I promise you'll never hear from me again, and neither will anyone else, because as soon as I get your money, I'm leaving the UK for good," Stephen vowed.

Will Stephen escape from Weatherfield without facing any consequences?
