Corrie's Tim Metcalfe reaches breakthrough with help from Aggie

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Tim Metcalfe has been really struggling recently in Coronation Street, as the aftereffects of his triple heart bypass continue to cause problems for him and Sally.

Tim has found himself unable to perform in the bedroom, and his depression has only got worse the longer the problem has gone on.

And his relationship with Sally is beginning to crumble as a result – despite them using advice from a Sting interview to help them find a new way of connecting with each other.

Things get even worse for the couple next week when Sally learns that Tim has turned to pornography to help try and get his libido back.

Sally is so hurt by what Tim has done that she sends him out for a night alone, and then leaves him a note asking him to sleep in the spare bed when he gets home.

Tim attempts to try and smooth things over with Sally, but she's at the end of her tether. Despite his pleas for her to stand by him, she thinks that maybe what they could really do with is some space.

Later, Tim bumps into Aggie and, needing somebody to talk to, he tells her everything that has been going on. Aggie proves to be a good sounding board as she helps Tim realise what's wrong – his fear of dying – and encourages him to open up to Sally.

Aggie later gives Tim a book about death, and strongly encourages him to read it. And it looks like her advice proves helpful, as Tim talks to Sally about his fear of dying and what his health scare has done to him mentally.

While Sally is pleased that he has made positive steps, Tim doesn't tell her that it was Aggie that helped him. How will Sally react if she ever finds out?
