Coronation Street’s Lisa George has spoken about the time she was once left homeless after getting fired from a job.

The actress, who plays Beth Sutherland on the soap, said it happened over 20 years ago and that she was "absolutely crushed".

Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine, Lisa said that growing up she loved singing and was very keen on musical theatre.

"I always wanted to go into musical theatre, I've done festivals and started winning, and thought 'Oh yeah, maybe I can,'" she told Ranvir Singh, who was filling in for Lorraine Kelly.

Twenty years on, however, the actress is making her long-awaited return to singing by taking part in All Star Musicals.

The programme follows a group of celebrities as they perform musical hits before one can be crowned the All Star Musicals champion.
