Coronation Street icon Norris Cole had the last laugh during his own funeral tonight (September 24).
With Weatherfield's mourners gathered inside the church, vicar Billy Mayhew kicked off proceedings while Audrey Roberts, Gail Platt and Mary Taylor passed around a hip flask filled with tequila.
Their justification? In case it all went south.

Following Rita Sullivan's poignant eulogy, Billy revealed that Norris had written a letter for Roy Cropper to read out during the service.

It was mentioned how The Kabin's paperboy contained a secret inside of him, but that was just the tip of the iceberg; Norris wanted to stir the pot from beyond the grave.
He concluded this note by telling the truth about Rita's hair colour treatment: she'd used Claudia Colby instead of her longtime hairdresser Audrey without the latter's knowledge.
Slightly intoxicated, this caused Audrey to accuse her friend of betrayal.

Later on, the wake commenced with an awkward ambience following Audrey and Rita's confrontation.
Standing outside The Kabin, everyone was keen to unlock the secret of the paperboy, which Mary had earlier compared to an Indiana Jones plot.
It proved impossible to open, so Mary went and grabbed a chainsaw to decapitate him with, but the funeral-goers found nothing but air.
Freda Burgess then put two and two together – Norris had always despised the stand itself and getting his neighbours and pals to destroy it was his final act of mischief.
Nothing like a wild goose chase to celebrate the death of someone, right?
