Corrie's Asha to be questioned in court over feelings for Nina

The spotlight of the law will be on Asha Alahan in some tense Coronation Street scenes next week.

Seb Franklin's murder trial is where it all goes down, with Corey Brent and Kelly Neelan facing a possible conviction for the brutal attack earlier this year, which also left Nina Lucas in hospital with severe injuries.

Taking to the witness box, teenager Asha – who had a short-lived romance with Nina earlier this year – is among those called to give evidence.

While in court, she recalls how Corey bullied her before forcing her to lie about the crime when questioned by the police – he wanted her to give him a false alibi but she eventually refused.

Later on, Imran Habeeb gets to ask Asha his own questions, suggesting that Seb was murdered simply because he got in the way and that Corey was actually targeting Nina out of bitterness because Asha loved her and not him.

This game-changing theory horrifies Asha – as she believes it implies the tragedy was somehow her fault – and outside the court she sobs while dad Dev consoles her.

Elsewhere in spoiler territory, we know that Corey will lie during the trial next week, insisting that Kelly was the one who viciously assaulted poor Seb despite him trying to stop her.

Corey plays the victim card, claiming that Kelly's late dad Rick 'threatened' to have him bumped off if he uttered the 'truth'.
