Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street fans have praised tonight's (June 29) emotional episode, as Steve McDonald and Leanne Battersby were hit with some devastating news about Oliver.
In tonight's tragic scenes, a consultant revealed to the couple that their son Oliver has an incurable form of mitochondrial disease, a condition that affects cells and can lead to problems such as hearing loss, respiratory and vision issues, cognitive disabilities and specific malfunctions in the heart, brain, gut, liver and skin.

Steve (Simon Gregson) and Leanne (Jane Danson) were then left speechless when they were told that there is no cure for the condition.
However, in a state of shock, Leanne demanded a second opinion, convinced that Oliver had been showing signs of improvement. Meanwhile, the rest of the family and residents of the Street were left reeling by the news, with each coping in their own way.
