Soapland might still be running on a reduced schedule but June is shaping up to be another big month, with secrets revealed, life-changing dilemmas and some very special episodes.

Here's our guide to some of the biggest storylines that will be airing over the next few weeks.

1. Carla is visited by a ghost from her past (Coronation Street)

Carla Connor will be taking centre stage in one of Corrie's biggest stories throughout June, when her past returns to haunt her in Weatherfield.

Corrie producer Iain MacLeod has confirmed new details of Carla's storyline, which will see mental health struggles revisited when a secret about the time she went missing is exposed.

Fans will have to keep on watching next month to find out more, but the revelation is set to cause a big bump in the road for her relationship with Peter Barlow.

Teasing the twist, Iain said: "We meet two people we've not seen before, who emerge from Carla's mental health story. In the present, somebody that's currently in the show elsewhere reveals their true colours. That's a bit cryptic, but I don't want to give too much away."

We already know that David's long-term plan will involve winning her back, and episodes throughout June will see their fractured love story take centre stage.

Although Cher's arrival will naturally rock Sylver and Mercedes to the core (especially due to this one rather big lie he's told), David Tag – who plays Sylver – hinted to Digital Spy that there could be a happy ending eventually.
