Coronation Street star Jane Danson has revealed it's been "really tough" filming Olivier Battersby's emotional new storyline.

In upcoming scenes on the ITV soap, Steve and Leanne's son Oliver will be diagnosed with mitochondrial disorder, a condition that affects cells and can lead to serious problems such as hearing loss, respiratory and vision issues, cognitive disabilities and specific malfunctions in the heart, brain, gut, liver and skin.

The soap is working with the Lily Foundation on the storyline to ensure accuracy and spread awareness, and Danson has now opened up about how difficult it's been to film.

"It’s really tough. But I feel honoured to be doing it because it’s so very sad. As a parent it’s completely relatable."
