Coronation Street spoilers follow, as does discussion of themes some readers may find distressing.

Coronation Street aired a special episode last night (May 1) that focused on Yasmeen Metcalfe, as her coercive control and abuse at the hands of husband Geoff came to a head.

The episode saw Geoff force Yasmeen to wear an ill-fitting and revealing red dress that he had bought for an escort, before it was revealed that he spent her money to pay for Sally and Tim's wedding.

When they got home, he told her about the dress, threw food at her and told her that he might as well kill her.

But fans noticed earlier in the episode, Carla Connor made a comment about Yasmeen's outfit when they visited the Rovers Return, which hinted at what was to come: "Killer dress Yasmeen".

It's a little trick known in the business as foreshadowing. Sometimes it's a bit on the nose, but fans appreciated the subtlety of this one, so well done Corrie writers.
