Coronation Street's David Platt was at the centre of a dark storyline earlier this week – even prompting viewer complaints – but actor Jack P. Shepherd still has reason to celebrate.
Because, in news that we can't quite believe, Jack has just marked his 20th anniversary with the ITV soap in a series of adorable throwback photos on Instagram.
"Today marks my 20th year anniversary playing the role of David Platt," the actor wrote yesterday (April 2). "Here's a few photos of my life before I got the part and a few highlights of my character. Thank you @coronationstreet for everything."

As well as sharing a number of sweet school-era photos, Jack also posted some of David's most memorable moments on the cobbles (Tina! Kylie! Richard Hillman!) – although we'll be honest, we're not quite sure we'd call all of them "highlights".
He even tagged his location as "Gail Platt's - 8 Coronation Street". Happy anniversary, David!

The throwback prompted fans to flood the post with congratulations and love for seeing him grow up on the show. There was also praise for his performance over the years with one writing: "Keep up the good work Jack... your acting is pure brilliance".

Meanwhile, broadcasting watchdog Ofcom recently confirmed they had received six official complaints about a Corrie episode that saw David threatened with a knife after he tossed an empty beer can at a nearby gang.
Despite the controversy, it seems Digital Spy readers are largely on the show's side, with 60% of you concluding that the scenes from earlier this week did not go "too far" in a reader poll.
Coronation Street currently airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV.
