Coronation Street star Lorna Laidlaw has praised the decision for her character Aggie Bailey to go back to nursing.
Aggie worked as a nurse before moving to Weatherfield, but stepped away as she doubted her abilities when a patient died on her watch.
Scenes airing next month will see Aggie's family support her as she completes her first day back on a nursing job, marking a fresh start for her.
Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, Lorna explained: "I've been filming scenes in my lovely nurse's uniform. We've been talking about it for long enough, really. For me, it was really important for Aggie to go back to nursing.

"I wanted somebody in the family to have noticeably been university educated. I wanted Aggie to come from that background. Nursing is also a vocation and we know there's a great story for why she left in the first place.

"Aggie is a family-orientated woman, so it might be interesting to see how the job takes her away from the family and how the Baileys then have to deal without her presence."
For Lorna, the only downside is that Aggie is no longer working at the local cafe, which means fewer scenes with fan favourite David Neilson, aka Roy Cropper.
She laughed: "I miss him – I've got Roy withdrawal symptoms! I love the fact that Aggie couldn't cook and she was working at the cafe, burning everything. People were so polite about it – I would have been kicking off!

"I will miss Roy, plus the cafe is such a hub as you get to meet so many of the cast members when you're working in that place. A lot of the Bailey stories have been quite isolated stories, to do with the family.
"For Aggie, it was a great place for her to meet the community. I will miss Roy's and I haven't seen him for quite a while. Aggie has moved on, but she'll still go in there for a cup of tea!"
Lorna also spoke to us about the big news that Ken Barlow will soon be moving out of Number 1.
Upcoming episodes will see Peter Barlow and Carla Connor go head-to-head with Tracy Barlow and Steve McDonald to take ownership of the residence, with the winners set to become the Baileys' new next-door neighbours.

Lorna said: "It'll be interesting to see who moves in. It'd be quite a thing for this family to have noisy next-door neighbours, after they made so much noise themselves when they first arrived!
"Aggie knows Carla better because she worked in the caff with her, so she's already got a connection with her. It'd be nice to have a gal pal on the street.
"One of the things I'd like to look at is the female grouping on the street and how that works, so I think a gal pal could be an interesting way to go. But I would be happy with either option moving in!"
