Coronation Street star Mikey North has hinted that Gary Windass will go "off the rails" again if he finds out that Maria Connor has cheated on him.
The ITV soap has revealed that Maria (Samia Longchambon) will betray Gary next week by giving into temptation with her ex-boyfriend Ali Neeson (James Burrows).
Maria turns to Ali for comfort as she's suspicious over Gary's latest strange behaviour. In reality, Maria has nothing to worry about, as the real reason for Gary's secretive antics is that he's planning to propose to her.

Speaking about the storyline, Mikey explained: "I do think that Gary is really determined to make this his fresh start, put the past behind him and move on with Maria.
"I think Gary has seen the error of his ways, but if he were to find out about Maria and Ali, I think that could send him off the rails again.

"There's only one way that Gary reacts and that's with his fists. Should he find out about it, Gary and Ali will definitely come to blows."
Asked whether Gary could forgive Maria, Mikey replied: "Gary's no angel and he's lied to Maria for a long time, so unless he's being a real hypocrite, then maybe he could forgive one misdemeanour."

Maria will be shocked next week when, after her passionate encounter with Ali, she hears that Gary was planning to pop the question.
Ryan Connor and Gary's loan shark customer Ike Rodgers have been helping with the proposal preparations, so they step in to defend him.
Mikey added: "Maria has seen Ryan passing Gary something and she thinks he's up to no good again, so Gary gets Ryan and Ike to come round and tell Maria the truth.
"She doesn't really believe it though, and Gary's left not really knowing where to go from here."
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
