Coronation Street fans are desperate to see Yasmeen Nazir escape "nasty" husband Geoff Metcalfe as his abusive behaviour towards her continues to escalate.
Viewers took to Twitter on Monday (February 3) after Geoff branded his new wife "a clumsy, oafish bitch" and claimed that she'd ruined the magic show he'd put on for the residents of Weatherfield.
During the act, Yasmeen (Shelley King), who had been bullied into taking part by Geoff (Ian Bartholomew), accidentally caught her costume in the middle of a disappearing act.

As Geoff fought to get the door open, and an increasingly claustrophobic Yasmeen yelled out encouragement from inside the brightly coloured box, the audience started heckling – angering the amateur magician.
When she finally emerged, the crowd cheered as Yasmeen muttered: "They loved it! Penn and Teller!" But her enthusiasm proved short-lived as Geoff grabbed her arm and blamed her for the mishap.

Later, back at their home, Yasmeen begged Geoff's son Tim to stay for dinner – clearly frightened by how her spouse might react to her accident. Unaware of her desperation though, Tim declined her offer.
"I let you down constantly. I'm so sorry," she begged Geoff after he left. But his anger quickly escalated as he grabbed his phone and shoved it in her face. Recording her, he mocked her fleeced jumper before ordering her to go out and get some chips because he didn't want to "eat that slop" she'd prepared.
"I felt sick to my stomach when Geoff said she ruined his show and called her a bitch. He is a horrible controlling abusive man. Poor Yasmeen, my heart," one viewer wrote.
Another praised the soap for highlighting to people watching at home that "it's not as easy to 'just leave'".
"Emotional abuse destroys people & makes them feel worthless & believing the perpetrator is the 'best' thing for them," they continued. "Poor Yasmeen. I hope she escapes evil Geoff's clutches. It's horrible to watch."
"I said it last week and I'm saying it again... Geoff and Yasmeen should get awards for this portrayal of domestic abuse," a third added. "I was shouting at the telly please stay Tim she's scared to be alone! A gut-wrenching storyline yet wonderfully acted. Bravo."
"For everyone complaining about the Geoff/Yasmeen storyline making them angry or uncomfortable imagine living it in real life," another echoed. "Things like this can't be switched on and off, so the storyline should run as it needs to, to reflect real life."
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
