Coronation Street's David Platt will be quizzed by police next week after his rapist Josh Tucker is stabbed in a prison riot.

David becomes the prime suspect in the case, as he naturally holds a grudge against Josh (Ryan Clayton) after their traumatic history.

Next week's big episodes of Corrie see David's fellow prisoner Abe urge him to take his revenge against Josh, while the guards are distracted by a riot elsewhere in the jail.

David is handed a pair of scissors by Abe, who leaves him alone with Josh and encourages him to do his worst.

Later on, David's fiancée Shona Ramsey receives a worrying call from him, explaining that Josh has been stabbed and she needs to find him a lawyer.

David firmly denies that Josh's attack had anything to do with him. However, his version of events is called into question when a video emerges showing Josh collapsing from a stab wound, with David nearby.

Shona sees the video for herself after it goes viral and is sent to Max Turner. Although they desperately want to believe that David is innocent, Shona and Sarah both can't help fearing that he took the opportunity to exact his revenge.

When quizzed over what happened, David is represented by local lawyer Imran Habeeb – but will he tell the truth?

Jack P Shepherd, who plays David, revealed: "Before the riot kicks off, David is due to be getting out in a few weeks so he just wants to keep his head down. But then at the same time, he befriends these inmates called Abe and Tez and they get it out of him that he was raped by Josh.

"They say he needs teaching a lesson and David should do him in. They say they're going to stage a riot and that will be David's chance because you can get away with anything in a riot, there'll be no witnesses and they'll bring Josh to him.

"David's left pondering it and I think he is swept up in their plan no matter how much he knows he should just be keeping his head down."

On the all-important question of whether David is innocent or guilty, Jack added: "When filming the scenes, I didn't even know whether David had done it. The scripts didn't give a clear indication and that made it interesting to play.

"As a viewer you won't know whether he's done it or not. David's unpredictable and is capable of anything. David's saying it wasn't him and it was someone else, but he doesn't know who."
