When Digital Spy reported the sad news that Coronation Street was going off the air for a week between Wednesday, October 9 and Wednesday, October 16 because of the football, we knew fans were going to be upset.
But we weren't expecting fans to start a petition to try and get ITV to change their schedule. We shouldn't really be surprised though, you lot are very passionate.
A change.org petition started by someone called Rita C reads: "ITV cancelling Corrie for football will ruin many people’s evenings and routines of years and is unfair.

"Show earlier or later or on ITV2 is the better answer. Sign this so ITV see the loyal fans are outraged."
At the time of writing, the petition has a grand total of 326 signatures. With the viewing figures and advertising slot revenues that the football will pull, we can't imagine this petition is going to make ITV budge.
What to Read Next
However, it's important to note that ITV isn't 'cancelling' Corrie at all. Emmerdale has also been moved around, but extra slots have been scheduled to make sure the soap doesn't fall behind its normal routine.

While nothing has been announced yet, we are sure ITV will make sure the 'missing' episodes will appear somewhere, and soon.
