Coronation Street star Simon Gregson has discussed Emma Brooker's big new storyline, which will eventually reveal that Steve McDonald is her biological father.
Next week's episodes will see Emma (Alexandra Mardell) discover that her dad, who passes away in hospital, isn't actually her biological father and that her mum is Fiona Middleton (Angela Griffin).
Gregson revealed that Steve – realising he may be Emma's biological father – struggles to process the information as he looks into taking a DNA test.
"He can't believe it," he said. "He hasn't even thought about Fiona for so long, so to discover that [Fiona] is Emma's mum is a real blast from the past for him. But it is a step too far for him to even imagine that he might be Emma's dad.
"He is trying to work it out, and he feels as though she would be more likely to be Jim's daughter.
"It is a bit mind-blowing to think he has a 20-year-old daughter."

Gregson also hinted that the storyline will cause friction between Steve and Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford).
Steve hides the full truth from Tracy after taking £600 from his and Tracy's joint account, only saying it's for a family friend's funeral.
"As ever with Steve, it is about going about things the right way," he explained. "In reality, he should come clean straight away and tell Tracy what has been happening and that he might be Emma's dad.
"It happened before he even knew Tracy, and there is no reason for her to have an issue with it.
"But of course, Steve is going to go about it all the wrong way and cause himself many more problems."
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
