Tonight's Coronation Street (May 6) saw the return of the beloved Norris Cole to the street.
Norris came back in the nick of time, near the first episode's end. Just as a fracas between Freda and Mary started to turn nasty, Norris rolled up in a cab to stop the fight.
The altercation was the conclusion to Mary's increasing tension throughout the episode. Her fretting started when she heard from Freda that Norris was selling No. 3.
Later, she realised that there were no silent retreats in Shepton, where Norris was supposedly spending his time.
Panicking when she then found an ashes urn in the house, Mary accused Freda of murdering Norris, screaming down the street for someone to call the police.
It's at this point that Norris returned, breaking the fight up. But he had some shocking news. But what was it?

Norris revealed in the second episode that he and Freda are engaged, and he wants to divorce Mary so he can marry her.
But Mary, noticing Freda's expensive bracelet and still being suspicious of her, refused to allow the divorce, putting Norris in a nightmare situation. Will he stay with Mary, or be able to marry Freda?
