Coronation Street legend Amanda Barrie had a shocking experience the other day, revealing that she accidentally electrocuted herself in her flat.

The actress, who played Alma Sedgewick/Baldwin on and off for 20 years, took to her Twitter account to tweet the London Ambulance Service, saying: "Thankyou to my five heroes. So, last night I lit up the West End by electrocuting myself in my own flat. Eek!

"Magnificant #FirstResponders came to my rescue. Very scary but am still here, thanks also to @uclh God bless the ⁦@NHSuk⁩."

Amanda's friend and Only Fools and Horses actor John Challis responded to the tweet, writing: "Amanda Barrie! What are you like?! So happy you are unharmed.XX"

At the start of 2018, Amanda took part in Celebrity Big Brother's 'Year of the Woman' series, where she ruffled the feathers of some of her housemates and LGBTQ+ viewers.

Amanda, who married her wife Hilary Bonner in 2014, was criticised for defending Ann Widdecombe's anti-LGBTQ+ voting record, misgendering India Willoughby, and saying she thought you shouldn't expect someone to accept a community.
