Coronation Street's Gary Windass gets caught out by his partner Sarah Platt next week after accepting Peter Barlow's bribe.
Gary (Mikey North) takes a £9,000 cash payment from Peter in exchange for his silence over the Underworld roof collapse.
Peter parts with the cash to protect Carla Connor, who knew the roof was dodgy but failed to get it fixed despite warnings from Gary. (Of course, viewers know a shadowy figure also made the problem much worse with some sneaky sabotage.)
Gary uses the money to pay off dangerous Rick Neelan (Greg Wood) after taking a loan from the villain, although it's still not enough to fully settle the debt.
Later in the week, it becomes clear that Peter has wasted his money as Carla confesses everything at Rana Habeeb's memorial when the guilt becomes too much.
Carla shocks everyone by admitting that she knew the roof wasn't safe and she blames herself for Rana's death.
