Coronation Street returnee Wayne Hayes will go straight to Carla Connor for answers as he seeks an explanation for the Underworld roof collapse.
Show bosses are bringing back Roy and Hayley Cropper's former foster son as part of its big new whodunit storyline, which begins tonight (March 18) when the roof of the factory falls in.
Wayne, who was fostered by the Croppers in 2001, now works as a health and safety inspector and is sent to the Street to find out what caused the tragedy.
Roy (David Neilson) is one of the first people Wayne speaks to. Wayne assures him that the incident wasn't caused by the damage that the roof suffered when Peter Barlow's boat went on fire nearby.
This is welcome news for Roy, who has already been struggling with his guilt after accidentally starting the fire while sleepwalking.
Coronation Street's official website has confirmed that Wayne also confronts Carla, who may not have such an easy time as Roy.
What to Read Next
As Michelle assures the local residents that Carla had nothing to do with the roof collapse, Wayne may have other ideas.
One theory is that Carla sabotaged the factory herself as an insurance job, wanting to escape her current financial mess. Will Wayne be able to find any evidence to back this up?
Wayne was played by Gary Damer in 2000 and 2001, but actor Adam Barlow (no, not that Adam Barlow...) has taken over the role for this return stint.
Coronation Street airs Wayne's return scenes on Sunday, March 24 at 8pm on ITV.
