Coronation Street tackled a tough storyline in tonight’s (February 18) double-bill when Amy (Elle Mulvaney) decided to have an abortion after getting pregnant with Tyler Jefferies’s baby last year.

The pregnant teen confessed to Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) that she’d decided she wants to terminate her pregnancy after a candid conversation with Tyler and an argument with her parents, Steve and Tracy, which saw her storm out.

Unaware of Amy’s decision to not to see the pregnancy through, the couple were still hoping to adopt the baby once it was born, though Amy told Bethany that she'd already scheduled an abortion for the next day and wasn't planning to tell her mum and dad.

That all came after Tracy initially offered Tyler £5,000 to stay away from her daughter and her unborn grandchild.

He initially refused the offer and claimed that he wanted to stay in Amy and the baby’s lives.

"Forget me. This is about what you want," he told her.

Many fans were proud of Tyler's honesty and maturity in a difficult situation.
