We're a few months into the new year now and the drama in the Emergency Department is heating up, so what better time is there for a new batch of Casualty spoilers?
We know that keeping track of all the upcoming story snippets can be tricky, so this is your one-stop shop for all the gossip. Without further ado, here are 10 of the biggest moments coming your way soon.
1. Connie to be haunted by her attack
Connie has had the wind taken the wind taken out of her sails following her shocking attack, but sadly, her dark new story is only just getting started.
Over the coming weeks, Connie will grow increasingly paranoid as she's plagued by haunting memories of the beating. But who was responsible? Well, there's not long until we find out.
2. Archie and Will arrive
Meet newcomers Archie and Will! With a handful of exits lately (and possibly a few more on the way...), there's no doubt that the ED is in desperate need of some fresh blood. And these two could be just what the doctor ordered.
Luckily, fans don't have long until they meet feisty medic Archie as she'll be making her first appearance tonight, with Will hot on her heels.
What to Read Next
Archie – played by the brilliant Genesis Lynea – is bold, bolshy and extremely confident and will find herself coming up against her boss Connie just hours into her first shift. Despite that, it doesn't look like Will – played by Jack Nolan – is all that fazed by her if the spring trailer is anything to go by. But something tells us that could all be about to change…
3. Duffy gets a devastating diagnosis
It was the moment Duffy was dreading, but upcoming scenes will see her get an official diagnosis. The trailer shows Duffy getting the news she so desperately feared when the doctor confirms that she is indeed in the early stages of dementia, leaving her with some big decisions to make in the aftermath.
We always knew that this was going to be a big series for show stalwarts Duffy and Charlie, and as the story gathers momentum over the coming months, it certainly won't be one we'll be forgetting in a hurry. Have the tissues at the ready as there could be many more tear-jerking moments on the way *sob*.
4. Charlie struggles with Duffy's secret
Realising she needs to tell someone about her dementia news, Duffy confides in Charlie but insists she's only telling him as her line manager – not husband.
Although Charlie decides against telling the board, or the rest of the team, about Duffy's diagnosis, he unwittingly isolates her by taking her off certain shifts and more difficult duties.
But as the rest of the team start to pick up on his seemingly biased behaviour, Charlie starts to crack under the pressure of it all. How long can he keep Duffy's secret? And what does the future hold for Chuffy?
5. David loses his temper
One of the most shocking moments in the new promo has to be good-natured nurse David attacking Charlie – his senior in both senses of the word.
It remains to be seen what brings David, who usually wouldn't hurt a fly, to shove Charlie quite so violently, but we're intrigued. Very intrigued. And also a bit worried about what the repercussions could be afterwards. Will Charlie forgive David for his violence? Or could David lose his job over this?
6. Jacob's mum Omo returns
We already knew that Omo will be on our screens this spring and her return story is shaping up to be just as heart-wrenching as her previous one. Former EastEnders star Ellen Thomas has reprised her role for another stint as Jacob's mum Omo, when the show delves further into Jacob's backstory.
The trailer shows Jacob coming face-to-face with his mum for the first time in months and bearing the brunt of her emotions as she angrily confronts him over "abandoning her".
7. A dark story for Ruby
As we've already revealed, Ruby has a dramatic few months ahead, having reached out to grieving teenager Dani. Georgia Hughes has been cast in the semi-regular role of Dani, who is set to feature in a number of key episodes up until the summer.
While there's no further information on this story at present, we can assure you that Ruby is definitely one character you'll be wanting to keep a close eye on over the coming months...
8. Iain goes back to work
Although we now know that Iain will be making a full recovery, it won't come as much of a surprise that his journey doesn't end there.
Fans can expect to see a whole new chapter in Iain's mental health story when he comes out of hospital and has to face the world again. This time, though, Iain is armed with unwavering support from his sister Gem and the rest of the ED team, who are all desperate to help. But as Iain prepares to go back to work, what does the future hold for him now?
9. Jade faces an uncertain future
She's not been in the ED long, but Jade's future on the busy ward could be up in the air when she gets a firm telling off from Charlie. Having scraped through her exams, Jade will feel the pressure as it becomes clear that Charlie is far from impressed with her. Can she turn things around?
10. More exits...
The revolving nature of the ED doors means that no one's future at the ED is ever really safe. With a couple of new faces being introduced to the department, there's every chance that we could be saying goodbye to some favourites too.
But given that Casualty bosses rarely announce cast exits ahead of transmission, fans will just have just have to stay tuned to find out who else will be waving goodbye this year.
Casualty continues on Saturday (March 23) at 8.25pm on BBC One.
