It comes with great sorrow that we announce Selena Gomez and The Weeknd have reportedly broken up.

According to People, the pair have called time on their union after 10 months of dating, due to conflicting schedules and the challenges of keeping up a long-distance relationship.

"She and Abel have been going back and forth for a few months about their relationship," a source told the publication.

"It's been hard with him being on tour and her shooting in New York. That wasn't easy on them," they added.

While the pair are "still in touch" and were spotted just two weeks ago enjoying a Halloween-inspired date night in Los Angeles, the duo are said, according to an insider, to have realised that "this is the direction things were heading, but it's been hard for months".

The news comes a day after The Weeknd reportedly 'unfollowed' his girlfriend's close family and friends on Instagram, following paparazzi photos showing her having lunch with her ex Justin Bieber.
