Prime Video has released the first trailer for new romantic comedy The Love Hypothesis, the movie adaptation of Ali Hazelwood's bestselling novel that stars Riverdale's Lili Reinhart and Murder on the Orient Express' Tom Bateman.

The film stars the duo as scientists who share an impromptu kiss and then decide to embark on a "fake relationship" but... well, it's a rom-com.

Appropriately for their jobs, the trailer features a narrator talking about molecules colliding until they find a match and form a bond.

Speaking about the film at Obsessed Fest over the weekend, Reinhart said that she hopes the film feels like a "timeless" romantic comedy (via The Hollywood Reporter).

"We all want to see a lot more love than hate and this is that", she said. "I think it’s beautiful and hopefully feels timeless and feels like a movie you can go back and watch with your friends and swoon over."

"THIS LOOKS PERFECT. They are really coming to our TVs", wrote one fan, while another said: "September?! You people dare to drop this now and tell I've to wait for another 3 months for this?!"

"Are u kidding me???? First Off-Campus, and now THIS!!!" one particularly excited fan said. "TOO HAPPYYYYYY, these guys are personally going through my fav novel list and making movieesssss."

"Is it wrong that I want 6 seasons of this already? I need more than just a movie", asked another fan, while a further said: "I am glad the male lead isn't one of the mainstream actors".

Meanwhile, some were surprised to learn that the novel started out as fan fiction focused on Star Wars characters Rey and Kylo Ren, and that it has become a movie releasing in just a few months.

The Love Hypothesis comes to Prime Video on 23 September.
