Netflix has released a thrilling first look at APEX, a new action-thriller starring Charlize Theron (Monster, Mad Max: Fury Road), Taron Egerton (Kingsman, Rocketman) and Eric Bana (Dirty John, Hulk).
The teaser trailer starts with Theron's character Sasha climbing various rockfaces and taking part in other adrenaline-filled activities such as white-water rafting, as Egerton's serial killer reveals what he knows about her in a chilling voiceover.
The scene then switches to Sasha being hunted in a forest by the killer, who is holding a sniper rifle and then a crossbow. The pair come face to face, before Egerton's character tells her to "run for your life".
The rest of the trailer sees Sasha asking "You playing a game? Is that what you think we're doing?", before the pair face off in various high-octane situations, including Sasha being pursued through some rapids.
We also see her sliding over a cliff edge into the raging river below, as well as trying to beat her nemesis with a rock.

According to the synopsis, "A grieving woman (Theron) seeks solace in the wilderness only to become ensnared in a deadly game of cat and mouse with a ruthless serial killer (Egerton)." Netflix also says, "the film layers emotional depth into a high-stakes fight for survival."
The film has been written by Jeremy Robbins (Aftermath, The Purge) and is produced by Theron and director Baltasar Kormákur (Everest, Adrift), amongst others.

Filming began in Australia last February and Kormákur told Netflix's Tudum, “I couldn’t be more excited. Working in the rugged, beautiful terrains of Australia with three of the world’s most talented, dedicated actors in Charlize Theron, Taron Egerton, and Eric Bana is such a joy – even as I put them through the [ringer] in this unique survivor story.”
Theron previously spoke to People about doing her own stunts for the film, saying, "In this case, I was climbing a lot. I was climbing pretty much every day."
"And when I got to Australia I was kayaking a lot. That's a massive workout. I was just getting as strong as I could because I climb all of the actual mountains in the movie. I'm climbing all of it – and I'm climbing it barefoot on my own raw feet."
APEX will be released on Netflix on 24 April 2026.
