Glenn Close is finally set to get her first Oscar after eight nominations across her career. The screen icon has been notably snubbed for 44 years by the Academy, though she will be finally acknowledged with a non-competitive Honorary Oscar.

The star is set to be celebrated at the Governors Awards on 15 November alongside director Ridley Scott, who has also notably never won an Oscar despite four nominations.

Animator Floyd Norman, who has worked on Disney classics such as Toy Story 2 and Mulan, and indie producers Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler (Past Lives, Hedwig and the Angry Inch), are also being honoured – the latter two awarded the Irving G Thalberg Memorial Award.

The actor will next be seen in Channel 4 series Up to No Good, which is based on short story collections by Helene Tursten and centres on Maud Oldcastle, described as "a hilariously brusque, cantankerous, ruthless older woman" who also happens to be "a killer".

"Determined to break from a lifetime spent caring for her sister (Penelope Wilton), Maud sets out to claim a long-overdue second act, but when a suspicious young detective (Claudia Jessie) investigating a death in Maud’s building starts to believe there is more to her than meets the eye, Maud is forced to reckon with her crimes, present and past," the synopsis adds.
