Oscars viewers have criticised the Academy for leaving Michelle Trachtenberg out of this year's In Memoriam segment.

The star sadly passed away last week at the age of 39, but even though the segment opened with a beautiful tribute from Morgan Freeman to Gene Hackman, who passed away the day after, Trachtenberg was left out of the tribute.

And the omission wasn't missed by those watching along at home.

"It's shameful that the Oscars didn't include Michelle Trachtenberg in their memorial montage of all the actors/actresses who have passed within the year," wrote one viewer, with another calling it "so disrespectful".

They weren't the only viewers to notice either. "[It's] honestly a terrible slap in the face," criticised another viewer, with another adding: "Michelle Trachtenberg not being mentioned in the in memoriam section of the Oscars is upsetting."

"Michelle Trachtenberg grew up in the industry. She gave literally her entire life to the industry. She's been in film and not just TV shows. And yet they snubbed her during the Oscars In Memorium!? That's not okay," another viewer said.

Michelle Trachtenberg wasn't the only name viewers felt were missing out of the In Memoriam segment, with horror legend Tony Todd and Shannen Doherty also among the names mentioned.

All of the actors are mentioned on the official In Memoriam section of the Oscars website, giving you a scope of how many other names had to be left out of the segment.

Following Trachtenberg's death, Sarah Michelle Gellar paid an emotional tribute to her Buffy the Vampire Slayer co-star.

"Michelle, listen to me. Listen. I love you. I will always love you," Gellar's tribute said in a nod to Buffy's season 5 finale 'The Gift'. "The hardest thing in this world, is to live in it. I will be brave. I will live… for you."
