Chloë Grace Moretz has revealed that she was initially told she was "too pretty" to star in Carrie.
The 15-year-old actress plays an emotionally damaged teen who takes out supernatural revenge on her tormentors in the upcoming remake, which also stars Julianne Moore.
In an interview with Teen Vogue, Moretz admitted that she was almost passed over for the highly-coveted role.
"When I was auditioning for Carrie, I was told, 'Well, look, you're too young, you're too pretty, you're too accomplished'," the star recalled.
Moretz went on to insist that she used that resistance as fuel to prove all of those doubters wrong once filming on Carrie began.
"I love showing people I can do something that they might think I will never be able to do," she explained. "Playing someone who's happy-go-lucky and has a good life and a nice family - it's boring for me."

The star added: "[Being happy is] my life. I have a good family. My mom loves me. I like being challenged, playing characters that are a little messed up."
Carrie also stars Portia Doubleday as leader of a group of bullies and Ansel Elgort as Carrie's love interest.
The film will be released on October 18 in the US and November 29 in the UK.
