With over $370 million grossed worldwide against a reported budget of $750,000, horror hit Obsession has undoubtedly been the biggest underdog success story of the year when it comes to Hollywood.

And now, with the rumour mill swirling as talks of a follow-up abound, you can now watch the film from the (relative) comfort of your own home, as it is available on platforms such as Prime Video and Apple TV.

If you just want to rent the horror, then it is £13.99 in Standard, High or Ultra-High Definition. If you want to buy it outright, then it costs £17.99, with all editions handily including some extra content.

We say it will likely only be relative comfort as Curry Barker's film is a terrifying tale of lust and control, with the action following music store employee Bear (Michael Johnston) as he harbours a crush on co-worker Nikki (Inde Navarrette).

To help his dream become a reality, he makes a wish via a supernatural toy, and hopes that Nikki will fall in love with him. He's stunned to find that it works, only to discover that it leads to horrific consequences.

As well as being a breakout success at the box office, Obsession was widely lauded by critics, with Rotten Tomatoes currently reporting an impressive approval rating of 94% from 282 reviews.

In Digital Spy's five-star review, we called it "one of the year's best" films, adding: "Obsession is a properly good messed-up time precisely because you have no idea what comes next."

"You might think you know the destination, but Barker delights in taking twisted turns along the way," we continued, adding that it was a "truly brilliant calling card" for the young writer-director.

The filmmaker, who previously directed Milk & Serial, has already expressed interest in developing a follow-up to his breakout hit, teasing: "I obviously have a couple more things that I’m excited about next, but I do see Obsession 2."

"What really is exciting to me is maybe an anthology... Each episode is a different wish that goes completely off the rails. Maybe I’ll direct the pilot with the same DP, and you could invite other filmmakers to give their spin at it. That would be really cool," he added.

Obsession is playing in cinemas, and is now available to buy or rent on Prime Video and AppleTV.
