Jeremy Renner has a ton of successful movie franchises under his belt, with roles in The Avengers and Mission: Impossible – but there's one character he's not dying to play again.

"Bourne — I had a great experience on it, but I'm not banging on the doors, saying, 'Hey, when are we doing another one?'," he told The Times.

Renner played Aaron Cross in the fourth instalment of the Bourne franchise, The Bourne Legacy. Replacing Matt Damon's character of Jason Bourne, he didn't come back for the following 2016 film Jason Bourne, in which Damon returned to the titular role.

"If the storyline's right, then certainly I'd do it," Renner said of a possible collaboration between the two stars in a future Bourne movie. "I love Matt."

Renner was also unable to return to his role in the Mission: Impossible film series, as scheduling clashes with Avengers: Infinity War prevented him from returning as William Brandt in Mission: Impossible 6.

Renner sounded considerably more enthused at the prospect of returning to the M:I franchise, though. "If they do another Mission, I'd love to do it again. I really like that character. I know Tom Cruise really likes that character."

But Renner is currently focused on filming for his next Marvel storyline as Hawkeye and promoting his upcoming film Wind River.

"Infinity War, we're shooting now," he said. "There are a lot of cool ideas and shifts happening in that world, for all those characters."
