Forget Jason Bourne, Matt Damon should use this latest video as a showreel for Impractical Jokers.

In a hilarious video to promote his upcoming movie and raise money for water.org, the 45-year-old actor tricked strangers into thinking they were helping out with a spy mission.

Damon can be seen feeding some unsuspecting people specific spy tasks via mobile phone  – who said prank calls were so 1998?

Instructions included complimenting someone's children, buying a hotdog and collecting an envelope from a mystery man standing on a nearby bridge.

Filmed in Los Angeles, people who played along with the prank were eventually guided to a room in a carpark where Damon emerged and surprised them with tickets to the premiere of his new movie. Result!

Matt Damon will be back in action for Jason Bourne – the newly-confirmed title for the fifth Bourne film – this summer.
