Matt Damon is on the loose from his CIA handlers once again in a brand new Jason Bourne featurette.

The Academy Award winner returns to the "defining role" of his life for the Paul Greengrass-directed action epic - as Bourne struggles with his own demons while searching for the truth of his identity.

"He's pounding people into oblivion trying to cope with the thoughts in his head," Damon explains, adding: "It's a big Jason Bourne movie - bigger than we've ever done."

This time around, Jason has a hard-nosed CIA boss (Tommy Lee Jones) on his trail as he exposes corruption on a worldwide scale.

Damon returns to the role of the spurned CIA assassin for the first time in nine years for this proper follow-up to The Bourne Ultimatum.

Jason Bourne opens on July 27 in the UK and July 29 in the US.
