He may be best known for his exploits in the superhero genre as Wolverine, but Hugh Jackman is taking to roles in England with projects such as The Sheep Detectives and The Death of Robin Hood.
He'll have another coming as well, as Deadline has reported that the Australian actor is set to star in an upcoming adaptation of Treasure Island, the classic 1883 novel from Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson.
Jackman is reportedly onboard as iconic Long John Silver, with the project also having some serious star power behind the scenes. Veteran filmmaker Ridley Scott is attached to direct, while Adolescence writer Jack Thorne is penning the screenplay.

Stevenson's novel follows a young boy who uncovers the map to a buried treasure, and subsequently ventures to find it. He finds himself up against various enemies, with Long John Silver also having his eye on the treasure.
The project is reportedly being shopped around, with 20th Century passing on the film due to its vested interest in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. No other casting details have been reported, so it remains to be seen who Jackman will be joined by.

Jackman will also be back on the big screen later this year with The Death of Robin Hood, a period drama in which he plays the legendary outlaw. Written and directed by Michael Sarnoski, the film also features Jodie Comer and Bill Skarsgård.
This time round, Robin is an aged and weary man who is reflecting on his past life of crime and murder. After being critically injured, he speaks with a mysterious woman, and looks back upon his actions.
Treasure Island has no release date, while The Sheep Detectives is playing in some cinemas. The Death of Robin Hood is released in the UK on 2 September.
