Gerard Butler and Hayley Atwell's upcoming hostage crisis action thriller Empire City has received a first look, as some big updates regarding the production and casting have been announced.

Set in New York City, the film follows firefighter Rhett (Butler) and NYPD officer Dani (Atwell) as a hostage situation breaks out in the Clybourn Building, and together with Rhett's squad, they must fight their way through the building to free the hostages.

The first-look images show Butler hanging out in his fire truck and Atwell in her uniform.

Although the film is set in NYC, it's actually being filmed in Australia, specifically in Melbourne.

Production is said to be just over halfway through at the time of writing, while multiple cast members have just been announced.
