Benoit Blanc is back with a brand new murder mystery on Netflix. But fans of the Daniel Craig series might have to wait a little bit longer if they are hoping for another helping of the detective anytime soon.

While discussing the new film Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, writer and director Rian Johnson revealed that although he has some plans for the next adventure, it's not next on his list to create.

"I have some basic, elemental, conceptual ideas, he told EW. "Like, 'Okay, it'd be interesting if it were this kind of thing' kernels."

He added he'd like to make at least one more original film before returning to the franchise that made Knives Out, and Glass Onion.

"I don't have actual concrete ideas. I don't have a theme yet, I don't have a location," he continued. "It's really pretty vague, and I feel like it's good to kinda keep it vague until I'm ready to actually sit down and write it."

Johnson added: "Part of making these movies, for me, is reacting to the present moment, not necessarily with current events or politics or culture specifically, but in terms of what we're all feeling in the world at that moment.

"The vibe check of the United States and the moment that we're in.

"I like that these movies are not timeless, per se, and that they all have one foot in something that is common to all of us in our present moment. So, yeah, I don't know. I have a vague notion, but trying to keep it vague until it's time to actually do it."

Wake Up Dead Man, starring Josh O'Connor, Jeremy Renner and Mila Kunis alongside Daniel Craig, has so far been praised by critics, with Digital Spy calling it "the darkest Knives Out yet".

The film sees Benoit Blanc (Craig) tackle his deadliest case yet when a controversial priest is murdered in plain sight. Teaming up with Rev Jud Duplenticy (O'Connor), Benoit has to uncover a tangled web of secrets to solve the case.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery is available to watch now on Netflix.
