An "electrifying" theatre production of Shakespeare’s Othello starring Toby Jones has confirmed its UK cinema release date. Also starring David Harewood, Caitlin FitzGerald, Vinette Robinson and Luke Treadaway, the play will be screened in cinemas across the UK from 4 March 2026.
Directed by Tom Morris with music by PJ Harvey, the theatre production was filmed live at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in London and is described as "an epic story of manipulation, jealousy and toxic masculinity" that "explores the darker side of power, rage and desire".
The synopsis reads: "Praised by everyone, Othello has carved a successful career for himself. Until one man’s unrestrained jealousy and deceitful manipulation starts a fire that corrodes not only Othello’s reputation, but his own sanity as well."
Tickets for the cinema production are on sale now via OthelloInCinemas.com, where you can also find the full list of cinemas screening the play.
"I’m so pleased and proud that our production of Othello is being made available to cinema goers around the world," Jones, who plays Iago, said.

"From our earliest discussions about the play we have been determined to shape and propel this tragic story with the momentum and tension of a cinematic thriller.
"I’m confident that the film will deliver much of the shock and release that the production has excited at the Haymarket Theatre."
Harewood added: "I’m absolutely thrilled that our production of Othello is coming to cinemas across the country and globally. This play has always spoken powerfully to questions of identity, belonging and prejudice, and being a part of it feels incredibly meaningful."
