Wicked: For Good has been another box-office hit, but if you've just found the time to watch it this weekend, you might be wondering whether this is really the last time we'll see Elphaba and Glinda.

The new movie's record-breaking opening has surely had Universal thinking about how to continue the story. To that end, we don't blame you for thinking that Wicked: For Good might have a post-credit scene to tease what's to come in the future. Maybe even there's an added treat for fans who have shown up in huge numbers to make the two-part adaptation such a success.

So if you're heading to see Wicked: For Good this weekend, we've got the definitive credits guide for the new movie, including whether there's any sign of a potential third movie. But don't worry, there aren't any spoilers ahead.

Does Wicked: For Good have a post-credit scene?

We're sorry to confirm that Wicked: For Good does not have a post-credit scene or any end credit scenes to enjoy. It means that as soon as the credits start up, you can leave and not be worried about anything.

But if you want to stick through the credits to find out who played Dorothy, what the new songs are called or just to make sure you've wiped away your tears after 'For Good', then you can absolutely do that too.

Will there be a Wicked 3?

At the time of writing, a third Wicked movie has not been confirmed and it's not immediately obvious what another movie could be about. Without going into spoilers, Wicked: For Good wraps up the story from the musical and even though it's slightly open-ended, it feels fairly definitive.

What to Read Next

Nothing is ever definitive in Hollywood though if there's more money to be made. Gregory Maguire did write three sequels to his original Wicked book, which the musical was adapted from, but some major changes mean it's hard to directly adapt his Wicked sequel, Son of a Witch.

It would likely have to be an original story, and Jon M Chu did tease to Variety that "there’s a lot of ideas flying around right now" in terms of a potential third Wicked movie. In a separate interview, he told Access Hollywood that "this was always meant to be a two-movie experience" though, so who really knows.

Following the opening weekend, Universal's chief marketing officer Michael Moses did tell Vulture that talks are happening about Wicked's future, although it's unclear if he specifically meant a third movie or a different kind of expansion for the series.

"Because of Wicked's success but also the fanship, we have almost a responsibility to figure out how we can continue in this universe," he explained. "Have we figured it out yet? No. But there are things underway."

But if Wicked: For Good continues to be a record-breaking hit, we'd be amazed if there wasn't a return to Oz at some point in the future – even without a credit scene in Wicked: For Good to set up a third movie.
