Cillian Murphy has revealed the emotional reason he returned to the Peaky Blinders franchise as the movie finally confirms a release window.
The star will be reprising his role of Tommy Shelby in the Netflix film The Immortal Man, which will move events to World War II.
Of course, the actor's had a stellar career since the main show came to an end in 2022, famously winning an Oscar for his role in Oppenheimer.
Murphy has now revealed he decided to say yes to Peaky Blinders once again thanks to the script, before admitting a heartfelt connection to fans.
"We got a really good script, and I have a sense of duty to the fans because, in many ways, they made the show the success that it is," he told The Observer. "It’s a proper bookend to the whole 36 hours of television."

It was also confirmed in the same piece that The Immortal Man will be released next year, something Murphy echoed when interviewed at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Show creator Steven Knight admitted earlier this year that the devoted fanbase partly inspired the decision to return to the series.
"I just wanted to do it," he told The Playlist. "I mean, part of it is, and this is not obviously the prime motivation, although I could pretend it is: I really want the Peaky fans who have been a big part of this, the way they found it."

He also confirmed it will get a big screen release, adding: "The way that they're so passionate about it, I really want them to be watching this all together in one building because the communication has all been virtual, which is fine.
"But I do want this to be in cinemas so that people can sit there together and watch this thing happen."
Alongside Murphy, the new movie will see new cast additions in Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth and Jay Lycurgo, while the likes of Stephen Graham, Sophie Rundle and Ned Dennehy will be back.
Peaky Blinders is available to stream on BBC iPlayer and Netflix. The movie will be released next year.
