Flight Risk, the "very silly" thriller starring Downton Abbey's Michelle Dockery, has jumped straight to the top of the trending chart.

The film sees Dockery portray Madolyn Harris, a Deputy US Marshal who is tasked with escorting a former accountant for the mob (played by Topher Grace) as he prepares to become an informant.

As they begin their flight from Alaska to New York City, the pair meet their bombastic pilot Daryl (Mark Wahlberg), but slowly come to suspect that he may not be exactly who he says he is.

Originally released in cinemas in January, Flight Risk was added to Prime Video in the UK and Ireland over the weekend, and it has proved to be a success with viewers as it jumped to the top of the streamer's UK film chart today (via FlixPatrol).

Furthermore, the thriller ended up being in the #3 position for the streamer's worldwide film chart, with only The Map That Leads to You and The Pickup raking in more views on the day.

Despite being a hit with viewers, the film didn't fare as well with critics judging by its approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which currently stands at a meagre 29% from 129 reviews.

"Stripped back to essentials. Everything, that is, except for Wahlberg’s performance, which is so enormous and overblown that it practically needs its own air freight carrier. Very silly, but pulpy fun," wrote The Observer.

Empire Magazine was similarly positive as they called it "fun" and "unpretentious", while The Guardian opined: "The film is, of course, very silly, but diverting and ingenious, and contains game performances from Wahlberg, Dockery and Grace."

Vulture was less positive, however, writing: "Flight Risk is a dumb film, which is not its primary sin. The problem is that it’s not the right kind of dumb - the kind where everyone involved is committed to the innate silliness of what they’re doing."

Flight Risk isn't the only thriller to be added to Prime Video in recent days, with Ben Affleck's Academy Award-winning film Argo being made available on the streamer on Thursday.

Flight Risk is streaming on Prime Video.
