A charming period drama starring Lily James and Matthew Goode has just been added to a streaming platform in the UK.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society is now available to watch on Prime Video for all subscribers based in the UK. If you've never signed up for Prime before, you can watch this and other movies and shows with a handy 30-day free trial.

Released in 2018, the movie from director Mike Newell stars James as author Juliet Ashton, a writer who's interested in the story of a singular bookclub set up during War World II in Guernsey.

Set in 1946, the film follows Juliet as she travels from London to Guernsey to know more about the club after being contacted by one of its members, Dawsey Adams (Michiel Huisman).

The film is based on the book of the same name by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows and has a star-studded cast.

The Daily Telegraph has called the film an "irresistible romantic mystery" that's "a mini-break for the soul", praising the costumes, production design and character study.

Elsewhere, Empire acknowledged the movie navigates a well-established genre, but celebrated it as "a well told, beautifully acted drama" that offers "a comforting level of familiarity and cosiness".

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society is streaming on Prime Video in the UK. In the US, the film is available to stream on Netflix.
