Marvel has added a mysterious MCU movie release date to their 2028 slate, leading fans to speculate what the secret movie could be.
Announcing the news on Wednesday, Disney revealed that Marvel Studios has scheduled an untitled movie for release on December 15, 2028 (via Variety).
With three films already scheduled for release that year in February, May and November, this newly announced release date would mean a fourth film will be unveiled in 2028.
Given that Avengers: Doomsday is set for release in December 2026 and Avengers: Secret Wars is slated for release in December 2027, some fans have speculated that the new mystery release might mean another Avengers film is in the works.

Another replied: "I’d be excited if it’s the case, but that’s only one possibility here. The most likely scenario is that it is a sequel to one of their other films."
Also open to the idea of an Avengers trilogy, one Marvel fan penned: "I think Fantastic Four 2 is most likely. Maybe X-Men although I think that’s immediately after Secret Wars. But what if it’s Secret Wars Part 2??????"

While another wrote: "Might be a stretch, but my guess is that it’s going to be a third (or seventh overall) Avengers movie that’s secretly being developed as a sequel to Secret Wars.
"2028 will also be the 20th anniversary of the MCU, which started with the first Iron Man film back in 2008. To me, it just makes sense that they would cap this era of the MCU with an Avengers film if it’s set on this new date."
"Perhaps Secret Wars is getting split into two," penned another. "Disney usually takes December for their biggest blockbusters (Avatar, Star Wars, Avengers) and 2028 is the 20th anniversary of the MCU’s launch."
Avengers: Doomsday is released in cinemas on 18 December 2026.
