Hugh Jackman has revealed why he won't give advice to the next actor who plays Wolverine. The star has portrayed the X-Men character on-and-off for the past two and a half decades, most recently reprising the role in 2024's Deadpool & Wolverine.

Speaking about potentially handing over the claws to another actor, Jackman gave a good reason for his reluctance to pass wisdom on.

"I'm not gonna say anything to whoever plays it, because no-one said anything to me, which I really am thrilled about," he told Barstool Sports. "I had not read the comics, so I was just coming to it fresh.

"And I learned a lot over the years, of course I've got my own take. But it must be melding in with me in some way. So I hope someone comes in and does whatever the f**k they want and makes it their own."

Referencing a gag in Deadpool & Wolverine, the star quipped: "I'm 57, I'm doing it until I'm 90."

What to Read Next

When it was suggested that the next Wolverine may not have even been born yet, Jackman added: "I'll do a little time capsule for them."

Following the huge success of Deadpool & Wolverine, it was reported that star Ryan Reynolds was exploring ideas for a new Deadpool movie featuring X-Men characters.

Last year, Jackman also addressed the possibility of returning for the new Avengers movies, telling The Graham Norton Show: "Maybe. I’m never saying 'never' ever again.

"I did mean it until the day I changed my mind. I did mean it for quite a few years. I have done ten films now, so I think they have enough for an AI version of me!"

Meanwhile, Jackman previously shared one gripe about Deadpool & Wolverine – namely that he wasn't in the opening dance sequence despite being a trained dancer.

"I don't need to be in every scene in the movie," he said. "But Ryan is a writer, and when I see the script, I see that the scene that I'm not in is the opening sequence which is a dance number to an NSYNC song."
