New spy thriller Black Bag has set an impressive new record for its leading stars, Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender.
Directed by Steven Soderbergh, Black Bag stars the pair as husband-and-wife intelligence agents Kathryn and George Woodhouse.
When Kathryn is suspected of betraying the nation, George must choose between his loyalty to his wife and his country.

Following its release in cinemas on March 14, the spy thriller has landed a near-perfect score of 97% on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes - making it the highest-rated film in both Fassbender and Blanchett's filmographies.
Fassbender's highest-rated film had previously been the 2024 comedy-drama Kneecap, which has a 'Certified Fresh' score of 96%. Following closely behind are 12 Years A Slave (95%) and The Shadow of Violence (94%).
What to Read Next
Although Blanchett has a couple documentaries with a higher rating than Black Bag (both Journey to the South Pacific and Jill Bilcock: Dancing the Invisible have perfect 100% ratings), Black Bag is her highest-rated acting role on the site.

Other Blanchett films that are rated highly include Shayda (97% critics' rating but a 59% audience rating, ranking it lower than Black Bag), Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio (96%), The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (95%) and Carol (94%).
Black Bag also stars Bridgerton's Regé-Jean Page, Back to Black's Marisa Abela, The Lazarus Project's Tom Burke, and James Bond stars Pierce Brosnan and Naomie Harris.
In Digital Spy's five-star review of the film, we said that Black Bag is "the year's first unmissable movie."
"It's the kind of movie that everybody is supposedly crying out for in Hollywood: an intelligent star-led movie reliant on an excellent script over special effects, and as a bonus, one that clocks in at a tight 94 minutes with zero filler."
Black Bag is out now in cinemas.
