Jonathan Majors has been dropped by Marvel following his trial conviction in New York.

Deadline has confirmed with Marvel Studios that Majors will not return to his MCU role as Kang the Conqueror in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty (2026) or Avengers: Secret Wars (2027). There is no news yet on whether Marvel will recast Kang to continue his MCU appearances.

The actor was present in court on Monday (December 18) where he was found guilty of misdemeanor reckless assault in the third degree and of harassment of former girlfriend Grace Jabbari.

Majors was acquitted of two additional charges – intentional assault in the third degree and aggravated harassment in second degree.

The judge subsequently issued a new order of protection for Grace Jabbari and set the sentencing date for February 6, 2024.

Majors has yet to comment on the verdict, but his attorney Priya Chaudhry strenuously denied the accusations on his behalf throughout the trial.

He was arrested this past March for a domestic dispute, after he called emergency services to attend to his unconscious partner in their New York apartment.

During her four days of testimony, Jabbari alleged that she tried to reach for Majors' phone in a private car after seeing a text message that read "Oh how I wish to be kissing you".

Jabbari said that Majors pulled her hand off the phone, grabbed both her arm and right hand, twisted her forearm and struck her in the head before the situation spilled out onto the street.

From here, CCTV captured Jabbari being put back into the car by Majors.

Jabbari explained in the witness box that she was later approached by three strangers, who she said offered to help after finding her distraught. She then went with them to a nightclub. Majors's attorney said he'd stayed at a hotel that night and later called 9-1-1 after finding Jabbari unconscious in their apartment the following day.

Majors' attorneys sought to cast doubt on Jabbari's version of events by claiming she'd purchased champagne using the actor's credit card at the club and was still able to use her right hand. They suggested Majors was arrested because he is Black while Jabbari is white.

Following his arrest, Majors was dropped by his PR firm and his management team. He had previously filmed the second season of Marvel's Loki before his arrest and his performance was not removed.
