Die Hard is one of those all-time classic movies. The first two sequels are pretty fun too. The others... not so much, but they can't take away from the first film being something we watch every year, and it doesn't even need to be at Christmas.

Now Bruce Willis has reprised the role once again, only this time it's for... a car battery commercial?

The ad, for the DieHard Battery from Advance Auto Parts, sees John McClane crash through a window, escape through an air vent and face off against the villainous Theo, played by a returning Clarence Gilyard Jr.

De'voreaux White also reprises his role as driver Argyle, and steals the "yipee ki yay" line from Willis, who is probably glad that he didn't have to say it.

For a while, it looked like a sixth Die Hard film was going to happen, and focus on McClane in his 60s while also flashing back to his youth with a new actor in the role (making us wonder if they were planning a soft-reboot prequel series). Apparently it was being written by people who worked on The Conjuring, which was an interesting choice.

Anyway, when The Walt Disney Company completed their purchases of 20th Century Fox's movie and TV assets they decided it wasn't worth pursuing, leaving the franchise dormant until it was resurrected by this... car battery commercial.

Who knows, maybe this... car battery commercial will drum up enough public interest and convince execs to greenlight a TV series prequel for streaming instead? Weirder things have happened.
